Security Assessment

Safety & Security Capability Assessment

  • Great news, you’re just 5 minutes away from receiving a customized assessment of your organization’s safety and security incident response capabilities. We’ve asked one of the industry’s leading security consultants, to create a synopsis of your current abilities benchmarked against best practices, and identify areas to enhance, along with the benefits of doing so. Please respond to the questions below and answer with “Low”, “Medium” or “High” based upon your organization’s current capabilities.

We’ll summarize your results via email and provide a detailed set of recommendations when you complete the assessment.

  • You have a mass notification system which enables you to send warnings/notices to all or a select group of individuals in the event of an incident, based on a staff member’s or student’s pre-registered location.
    • Your team currently lacks this capability or can only support in a very limited fashion (lacking consistency even within a single team and location).
    • Your team can partially execute but lacks consistency i.e. not executed the same way every time across all locations and groups (internal and external teams, departments and/or constituents).
    • Your team is highly proficient in this area and has demonstrated they execute this capability consistently and reliably, regardless of day, time or location across all teams and departments, each and every time an incident occurs.
  • You provide the individuals your team supports with a secure app to easily report an incident with their mobile phone and call for assistance. Capabilities include the end user being able to check in as a precaution to alert your teams of their location/status, pre-programming emergency numbers regardless of location, and the ability for your dispatch and/or security teams to communicate with the individuals via two-way messaging.
  • Your incident response platform provides the means to have two-way communications and group chat across responders, staff and/or students.
  • You have an incident management platform that can support different response protocols at different locations/offices depending on the resources you have available to respond to that issue (e.g. dedicated police force, extensive patrol coverage, in-house private security, ad-hoc response resources, third-party security, local law enforcement, contracted remote response resources).
  • When individuals or groups travel domestically or internationally, you have the means to:

    a) Determine the real time location of all those travelling;

    b) Send advisories to those impacted in case of a potential impending threat,

    c) Enable them to quickly check in with all those impacted by an incident to verify they’re OK (e.g. in the event of a terror attack in Paris or earthquake in Rome or New Zealand);

    d) Real-time coordination and ongoing support as circumstances warrant.

  • Your command and dispatch teams can view the real-time location and availability of your patrol officers, and additional personnel (contracted security guards and volunteers) and can direct and deploy individuals or groups of your first responders for optimal response to each incident.
  • Your first responders have a shared, distributed view of one another relative to each incident that is updated in real-time, throughout their shift, and the ability to communicate to one another. This includes the ability for a responder to see the location of each officer, not just the location of their vehicle, as well as to assign themselves based on protocols to a given incident without assistance from Dispatch or Central Command.
  • Your team has the ability to record each and every incident, including when and where the incident was first reported, the nature of the incident, the availability and location of each security responder as the incident unfolds, and the duration of response. Your command team can also playback recordings to analyze performance and can use the data to coach and train your security team and optimize performance on a go-forward basis.
  • For multi-story buildings under your team’s jurisdiction, you have Indoor Positioning Systems integrated with your incident response management platform which can accurately locate indoors when they need assistance, or to identify security personnel closes available to assist and expedite response. For example, instead of knowing there’s a person suffering from heart attack symptoms in a given building, you can determine the individual is located on the Fifth floor in the West Wing, in a specific conference room, even if they can’t verbalize their exact location.
  • For widespread incidents, you can visualize the real time location and status of 1000s of protectees and 100s of dedicated responders and additional resources (Fire Marshalls, Building Wardens, Safety Coordinators, etc.) and coordinate communications with each group to optimally manage the situation. In retrospect, you can review the management of the incident for learnings on how to improve the response and potential outcomes.
  • You have one incident response system to cover all the capabilities described in this assessment, that is simple and easy to use, both for the individuals you support, and for the safety and security teams you manage.
